What is the ‘Unemployment Insurance scheme’?
The Unemployment Insurance Scheme is a type of insurance/social security that offers Emiratis and residents financial support if they lose their jobs as a result of being terminated by their employers in the public and private sectors.
Exempted Categories
- Investors ( Owners of companies they work at )
- Domestic Helpers
- Temporary -Contract Workers
- Juveniles under age of 18
- Retirees who are entitled to a pension and joined a new job
What are the Subscription Fees?
Subscription fee is divided into two categories :
CATEGORY A
If the monthly basic salary is AED 16,000 or less, 5AED per month or AED60 annually.
CATEGORY B
If the monthly basic salary is more than AED 16,000 , 10AED per month or AED120 annually.
Notes: Policy period is available for 1 year or 2 years. Full VAT amount added to the 1st installment/payment

Compensation Benefits
- The monthly compensation is equal to 60% of the basic salary average for the most recent six months prior to the Involuntary Loss of Employment
- For Category A: Maximum Claim Benefits : 10,000 AED per month
- For Category B: Maximum claim Amount : 20,000 AED per month
- Maximum compensation for any one claim: 3 consecutive months
- The compensation will be subject to eligibility if you have been registered in the ILOI scheme for at least 12 months consecutively.
